Australian boss of WMC hoping for Ashes win

As the capital prepares to host the first Ashes Test, one prominent Australian now living in Cardiff will be hoping that her compatriots can emulate the Australian class of 2007.
Cricket and the Ashes in particular hold fond memories for Melbourne-born Judith Isherwood, Chief Executive of the Wales Millennium Centre. A former member of the famous Melbourne Cricket Club, she grew up in a family passionate about cricket. Her enthusiasm for the game may also have something to do with her uncle, Ray Isherwood, a famous Australian Test match umpire who umpired 30 first class matches between 1971 and 1985.
Looking ahead to the forthcoming Test, Judith Isherwood said, “Some of my earliest childhood memories are of summers in Australia, glued to our old black and white television watching the Ashes cricket series and desperately hoping that once again, Australia would triumph!! I grew up in Melbourne, home of the hallowed grounds of the Melbourne Cricket Ground, and I am sure a love of cricket is in my DNA. With this lifelong passion for test cricket, I’m hugely excited to be here in Cardiff for the first match of this year’s Ashes series. I know Cardiff will be a wonderful host, but I do hope the Aussies win!”
