Audience sucess for Red Dragon FM
South Wales radio station Red Dragon FM is once again celebrating following latest audience results. Newly released, the research from industry body Rajar shows people are now listening for even longer across the week driving an increase to the brand’s overall market share.
The latest increase is one of many for Red Dragon FM and means that the Welsh brand not only consolidates its position as commercial market leader, but has also over taken BBC’s national station Radio 1 in number of people reached, hours listened and market share in its marketplace. The Cardiff based commercial station’s growth is in sharp contrast with a decline for Radio 1 & Radio 2 in South Wales.
Speaking about the latest audience results, Red Dragon FM Managing Director Sally Oldham said “It’s a competitive market for listeners -so to have consolidated our number 1 position and to have overtaken one of the BBC’s flagship brands on all counts is a tremendous achievement”
Programme Controller Colin Paterson added “We focus on the music and what’s relevant to listeners in South Wales. Our summer of music shows that Red Dragon FM is uniquely placed to pull in the big names such JLS, Stereophonics and Will Young ensuring our listeners get an experience that other stations simply can’t
deliver”
