Ashes fans bowled over by Cardiff

The Times newspaper summed up perfectly why Cardiff and Glamorgan Cricket Club were so deserving of the praise that followed the first Ashes Test ever held in Wales. Times correspondent Graham Hughes commented, ‘The watchwords of this game are friendly efficiency. It is difficult to find fault with the arrangements or their execution, plaudits not normally associated with the baptism of a new sports venue under the most intense scrutiny imaginable. Cardiff is a young thruster, a city almost Australian in its outlook. It knows how to entertain’.

Those sentiments were echoed by fans from both Australia and England as they strolled through the city’s Bute Park reflecting on an historic Ashes Test that was never short on drama. But don’t take our word for it – why not see for yourself
