Cardiff & Co has its foundations in partnership working and co-operation, fusing the best of the public and private sectors for the benefit of Cardiff. Participation and engagement of the private sector is of critical importance to the future success of the company, providing the Resources, expertise and guidance to enable the city to continue to punch above its weight.

Cardiff & Co is focused on providing tangible and direct benefits for its partner investors. Through participation as investors, prominent local businesses gain the opportunity to influence and shape the way Cardiff is presented to the outside world. Investors will also benefit from joint initiatives to promote their business at the same time and in the same arena as Cardiff & Co across a range of key target sectors. Cardiff & Co is an exciting opportunity that provides a unique setting for local businesses to demonstrate their social responsibility by supporting the future of Cardiff and its people.

Cardiff & Co’s success will be measured by its ability to attract local private sector investment. By the end of the Company’s current 3 year Strategic Business Plan it aims to have secured £1.13million of private sector investment/earned income, more than matching the contributions made by Cardiff Council and the Cardiff Harbour Authority, and in doing so embedding the Company’s roots in the city’s private and commercial sectors.

Cardiff AirportCardiff Airport

Cardiff Airport is the gateway to Wales, and handles approximately 2 million passengers a year with over 50 direct routes and 800 connecting destinations. The airport situated in the Vale of Glamorgan is 10 miles from the M4 and 12 miles from Cardiff City Centre. Domestic destinations include Aberdeen, Anglesey, Belfast, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Jersey and Newcastle. International flights are available to over 40 destinations, with connections from various hubs including Amsterdam Schiphol and Paris Charles de Gaulle. Airlines include Aer Arann, bmibaby, Eastern Airways, Flybe, Highland Airways, KLM, Thomas Cook Airlines and Thomson Airways.

Cardiff University is one of the UK's leading universities and is ranked in the world's top 100 universities.  Its high quality teaching, research and engagement attracts students and staff from throughout the UK and worldwide.   Professor Sir Martin Evans was awarded the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 2007 and is one of two Nobel Laureates among the c6,000 staff.  The University has c25,000 students and income of £370M last year, when it also won its third Queen's Award for Excellence in higher education.
